What is Pricing In Proportion?
Pricing in Proportion means that mail is no longer rated on class of service and weight alone; the length, width and thickness are also taken into account.
Will my franking machine still work with Pricing in Proportion.
All of the models in the Pitney Bowes franking machine range are equipped to take full advantage of the new rate structure.
Pitney Bowes unique Intellilink™ technology, launched in April 2002, enables customers to download new postage rates via a secure Internet connection. Pitney Bowes customers with Intellilink™ enabled machines will therefore be able to update them with the new size related rates at the touch of a button. Other customers will be able to update their machines by changing a simple rate chip in their scale and, if necessary, replacing the menu overlay on that scale.
Within the DM800, DM900 and DM1000 Weigh-on-the-Way™ products Pitney Bowes offer solutions to automatically rate mail using the Pricing in Proportion rating structure. Pitney Bowes users of these systems can get an upgrade kit, thus enabling them to automatically rate mail under the new guidelines. Automatic processing includes the ability to measure the length, width, thickness and weight of an envelope, and apply postage based on the new rate structure.
